Choose Lightbox or Ring Glow for Duo

Compare SynthMock’s two lighting rigs at the same Duo pose, then rotate the chosen environment to suit the frame and display.

Use one fixed Duo pose when comparing lighting rigs.

Choose a lighting rig by the reflection it creates in your composition. Comparing the same model, camera and artwork makes that decision much easier.

Make a fair comparison

In a scene without a selected preset environment, the Lighting control offers Lightbox and Ring Glow. These provide different lighting environments, so the reflected source can change even when the physical phone and its material remain the same.

Choose the finish, source artwork and final camera first. Keep the background fixed for the comparison. A large background or camera change can overwhelm the difference you were trying to judge.

Compare source shape and screen clarity

The goal is a useful material cue: a defined rail, a readable hinge or a convincing reflection on glass. A dramatic highlight that covers the app’s central action is less useful than a restrained one in the right place.

  1. Select Lightbox and set Reflection to a visible level on the screen glass.
  2. Rotate the light environment and inspect where its highlight falls on the screen and frame.
  3. Switch to Ring Glow without changing the camera or artwork.
  4. Rotate that environment too; do not reject it based only on the same numerical rotation.
  5. Choose the rig that gives the clearer material and interface balance, then refine Light Tilt and key-light placement.

Test the chosen rig through the move

A lighting rig that works in a frontal still may produce a distracting reflection during an orbit. Scrub through the full camera range and watch the interface, the metallic frame and the rear surface in turn.

If the Lighting selector is not visible, check whether you selected a preset Scene environment. Those scenes have their own lighting behavior. If neither rig solves an over-bright frame, reduce or redirect the key light as well. The choice of rig is a starting point; it is not a substitute for checking intensity, camera and final output.

Final pass

Before you call it finished

  • Both rigs were compared with the same source and camera.
  • The chosen reflection supports the material without hiding the UI.
  • The rig remains useful throughout any camera movement.
