Frame a Duo mockup for vertical video

Compose a 9:16 Duo sequence with safe folding and camera endpoints, readable screens, and a matching vertical export preset.

A closed cover view is a compact starting pose for a tall composition.

A tall canvas does not mean every frame should show a narrow device. Plan enough room for the Duo to open, then keep the important interface large enough to read.

Try it in SynthMock

Start with a Duo scene.

Use a reusable template as your starting point, then apply the choices in this article.

A paid plan is required to use templates and export.

Set the canvas before making the move

Choose a 9:16 composition at the beginning. A sequence built for a wide canvas may crop the open Duo when it is later placed in a vertical frame. The open inner display is considerably wider in the composition than the closed cover.

Reserve space for any caption or interface overlays that your publishing workflow will add. There is no single safe-area rule for every social placement, so inspect the actual destination preview rather than assuming the entire canvas stays unobstructed.

Check the widest pose first

Use a fully open pose or the widest camera angle in the sequence as your framing test. It is easier to make a closed device feel larger afterward than to discover an open half is clipped at the end.

  1. Set the viewport to 9:16 and locate the widest visible pose.
  2. Use Zoom and Pan to keep the outer corners inside the frame.
  3. Check the closed cover and important intermediate poses at the same ratio.
  4. Adjust camera endpoints deliberately if one pose becomes too small or too close to an edge.
  5. Choose a vertical 1080p or 4K preset in video Export, then verify its listed dimensions.

Review it as a small moving image

Play the sequence in a narrow window or inspect a small preview. A wide app screen may fit perfectly but still be unreadable. Give the main feature a clearer view, simplify the source or use a closer shot where the story needs detail.

After export, play the downloaded MP4 and check the top, bottom and side boundaries throughout the fold. Native video export requires paid access and a supported Chromium browser. Do not use a horizontal export preset merely because the inner-screen source is landscape; the source and delivery canvas are different.

Final pass

Before you call it finished

  • Closed, open and intermediate poses fit the 9:16 canvas.
  • The app remains identifiable at a small playback size.
  • The exported file uses the intended vertical dimensions.
