Add a Duo shot with its automatic effect

Finish the preceding endpoint first

Before adding the next shot, select the previous effect’s End and make sure it is the pose you want to continue from. Inspect Fold, Camera rotation, Pan, Zoom and FOV together. A useful inherited start depends on a useful preceding end.

The automatic effect uses the same creation behavior as a manually added effect. When a preceding effect exists, its final camera and fold pose seed the new start. The end still needs your attention: it may reflect the new shot’s inherited base composition rather than the next move you had in mind.

Author the new end, not another start

Keep playback paused while editing endpoints so the selected state is clear. Read the Timeline effect panel and its Start or End selection before changing a control.

1. Add a new shot to the sequence.
2. Confirm that a Custom effect pill appears across the new shot’s interval.
3. Select the effect and inspect Start against the preceding effect’s End.
4. Choose End and design the new camera or Fold destination.
5. Set the shot duration and inspect the effect range again if the timing changed.
6. Play across the boundary and through the new shot.

Avoid creating a second effect by accident

An automatic pill means the new shot already has a motion range to edit. Adding another overlapping effect because you expected an empty track can make the timeline harder to reason about. Inspect the existing pill before adding anything else.

If the new shot starts in an unexpected pose, compare the previous effect endpoint and the selected shot context. Do not compensate by changing unrelated source or lighting settings. If shot creation is blocked, read the scene or duration-limit message rather than repeatedly pressing Add shot.
